Quick Restaurant Job Descriptions


Here are some essential job descriptions that will help you quickly post jobs to recruit front of house and back of house staff for your restaurant. 


Server

The Server ensures that guest have an enjoyable dining experience by providing quality customer service. Servers work in the front of the business taking orders, serving food and drinks, in a friendly and timely manner.

Cook

Cooks are responsible for preparing and cooking menu items ordered by each customer, working on several different orders simultaneously, and maintaining food preparation areas, cooking surfaces, and utensils. Must develop a strong understanding of the menu, have the ability to multitask and work well as part of a team. 

Busser

The Busser is responsible for helping out the wait staff and bartenders. Bussers clean tables, taking plates, utensils and drink ware to the kitchen to be washed, make sure diners' water glasses are full, and reset tables for the next service. Bussers might help waiters and waitresses bring food out to a table, restock utensils, napkins and other dining room needs.

Bartender

The Bartender position will require you to interact one on one with the guests, take their orders, make cocktails utilizing company service standards, and ensure guest satisfaction.

Host

The Host position will primarily greet and assist guests in a positive, welcoming and professional manner. They will also maintain a proactive approach to solving any guest's questions or problems. Oversee daily restaurant reservations, pre-assigning seating where necessary, and communicating with management, service staff and chefs.

Cashier

Cashiers are responsible for taking payments from customers in exchange of goods or services while providing them with exemplary customer service. They greet customers as they arrive, provide them with information regarding menu items or products and make suggestions based on customer preference. They scan merchandise and accept cash and credit card payments.

Dishwasher

The Dishwasher is responsible for maintaining cleanliness and sanitation standards for dishes, glassware, tableware, cooking utensils, etc., using machine and manual cleaning methods. This position also ensures the dishwashing area is maintained as a clean, safe and sanitary facility.
